Those of you that are unsure exactly what a CD-R is, please read the following:-
A conventional "Import" CD is manufactured in a similar manner to vinyl discs, that is, they are pressed (or stamped) and although in theory second and third pressings can be made from the original master, this rarely happens. In many cases there only ever were 500 to 1000 copies made. CD-R's on the other hand are individually recorded and whoever is making them can produce any quantity from one upwards and for as long as they like.
Because of this it is unlikely that CD-R's will ever become collectable in the same way as pressings and there is no reason why their value should rise. However because the recording process is digital there is no loss of quality from the source recording and they are providing an ideal way for fans to obtain recordings that are either no longer easily found or are at a premium price if you do find them.
